DEVILDRIVER and SOIL Confirmed for CHICAGO POWERFEST 2009 CRJ Productions would like to welcome DEVILDRIVER and SOIL as part of the next CHICAGO POWERFEST, set to take place on May 7-9 at The Pearl Room in Mokena, Illinois. This will be both bands' first show in the Chicago area in over a year & also since finishing the recording of their new albums...both of which are scheduled for release in early summer. Festival organizers also commented, "In keeping with the Powerfest tradition of spanning a wide variety of hard rock and metal genres, DEVILDRIVER and SOIL will contribute perfectly. This is what we feel a metal fest should be & plan to continue in this multi-dimensional direction with the goal of being bigger and better each year."

Finland's up-and-coming KIUAS, Chicago's very own metal veterans NOVEMBERS DOOM, and Germany's PERZONAL WAR are among the first bands to be announced for CHICAGO POWERFEST 2009 (Main Event). Rounding out some of the other support slots will be Sweden's ASSAILANT, Germany's SHEEPHEAD, and Chicago's MINDWARP CHAMBER. The 7th edition of the Chicago Powerfest will take place at the Pearl Room in Mokena, Illinois on May 7-9, 2009. Also, as previously announced, the PAGANFEST USA: Part 2 tour will be making a stop on the first night (May 7) of this year's Powerfest to kick it off again with some amazing Pagan metal!

The 7th edition of the CHICAGO POWERFEST will take place at the Pearl Room in Mokena, Illinois on May 7-9, 2009.
Also, in keeping with a new annual Powerfest tradition of a Thursday night "kick-off" show, organizers/promoters CRJ Productions are very pleased to welcome the next Paganfest USA tour, featuring PRIMORDIAL, ELUVEITIE, MOONSORROW and BLACKGUARD (formerly Profugus Mortis) on May 7th.
Commented CRJ: "Here we are again, preparing for yet another installment of an ultimate weekend of some amazing metal!! And what better way to start things off again in high gear, than by getting the next Paganfest tour routed through the Powerfest for the kick-off night!!! Hi guys, thanks for your patience and understanding, the last several months have been quite frustrating and disappointing....here's the official press release regarding our decision to pull the plug on a 2010 fest.

CRJ Productions, the organizers of Chicago Powerfest, have issued the following statement:
"We've been holding off making this announcement for as long as we could, as we truly hoped there would be some kind of salvation for a Chicago Powerfest 2010 edition. However, with the closing of the Pearl Room last August, and the financial stranglehold we've been left in as a result, we've been left without a suitable venue and without the necessary funds to kickstart a 2010 festival somewhere else. Additionally, the current state of the economy and its affect, not only on fans but on us personally, have left us no choice but to finally make the decision to put Chicago Powerfest on hold for now.
With that being said, we will continue to spend the rest of 2010 working on ideas for taking CPF to a higher level in 2011 and perhaps some other ventures to take place before 2010 wraps up. As always, we thank everyone for their incredible support over the years. We sincerely appreciate everything, and will continue working to bring you the best in metal. Cheers!"
